Tribute to John Carver his grandson from Leipzig, Germany

Created by Michael 3 years ago

The last year hasn’t been easy for any of us and in this time – time with family and friends and happiness have become the most precious of commodities on earth. I was thinking of all those lovely times with Grandpa lately, as well, and during the pandemic it often helped a lot to get through and stay positive. And every time I thought back I remembered a great, loving and caring Grandpa and also father!! When I thought back I saw my first ride on a bike, my first scrabble games and even my first cribbage games. That was so much fun and something I have always missed. Unfortunately distance made it hard for me to visit you as often as I wanted but it never stopped us keeping contact and having a chat on the phone and even writing letters to keep up to date.

I always looked forward to the summers when I was a child, because it meant that I was able to see my relatives – my family! Your picture with you and me will always be safe with me and I hope that you will find your peace in all ways. Now you are back with Grandma and please tell Grandma all about me. My very first leather wallet was from you as a gesture of growing up and I’ll always look after that. It survived ten rough teenage years and it will always stay by my side…and in my pocket! Thank you for everything, Grandpa. I really, really love you. And maybe one day we will all see each other again
