Many fond memories over almost 50 years of friendship. He read stories to our young children whilst we prepared Sunday lunch to eat together. He taught our youngest daughter French over tea and cakes, interspersed with a 'show and tell' walk around his garden. With the children grown, he would invite me to lunch at his home during my break. Always beautifully prepared ('as Dorothy would have done it'), usually with home-grown salad accompaniment and a pretty serviette for me (not himself!). Loved to talk of his holiday adventures with Margaret and there was many an itemised photograph to be viewed. A very special gentleman.
A lovely man to have known over the four years I cared for him. He will be sadly missed
